Hired Car

“Hired Car” means a motor vehicle that is kept for hire or reward under a contract where the vehicle is driven by the hirer and payment for use of that motor vehicle is at or for a fixed rate or amount.

 

Limousine

A Limousine is a motor vehicle that is:

  1. constructed or adapted to carry not less than four (4) and not more than seven (7) passengers;
    kept at an establishment for hire or reward and;
  2. to be driven by the chauffeur in uniform for the exclusive use of the hirer

 

Maxi Taxi

A Maxi Taxi is a motor vehicle that is constructed or adapted to carry not less than eight (8) passengers and not more than fourteen (14) passengers.

Kept for hire or reward at an establishment or at the Airport or Seaport to convey passengers to their destination

Specifications for Route Taxis

The vehicle must be painted in white with a maroon band 5 inches in width as specified by the Barbados Licensing Authority

The permit number and route allotted to you must be painted in white on a black background on the left side of the vehicle. The figures must not be less than 80 millimetres in height and 14 millimetres in breadth and letters not less than 40 millimetres in height and 8 millimetres in breadth.

No other markings will be permitted.

 

Mini Bus

A Mini Bus is a motor vehicle constructed or adapted to carry eleven (11) to twenty-four (24) passengers and such number of standing passengers, not exceeding seven (7), and used for hire or reward to convey passengers on a specific route.

Specifications for Mini Bus

The vehicle must be painted in the colours Midchrome Yellow and Bluebird as specified by the Barbados Licensing Authority

The permit number and route assigned are to be painted in white on a black background on the left side of the vehicle. The figures must not be less than 80 millimetres in height and 14 millimetres in breadth and letters not less than 40 millimetres in height and 8 millimetres in breadth.

All advertising on the exterior of the vehicle must be approved by the Transport Authority prior to installation.
No other markings will be permitted

 

Taxi

A Taxi is a vehicle, constructed or adapted to carry not more than seven (7) passengers for hire or reward on any road or in any place frequented by the public.

 

Tour Coach

Tour Coach means a motor vehicle adapted or constructed to carry from 11 to 30 passengers and used for the purpose of carrying passengers to and from airports, seaports and on contract tours of Barbados.
